Parcel Post Weight Limit Upped 5 Pounds
Postmaster Bert Hansen announced increases to parcel post weight limits starting July 1. The 25 pound limit applies from Navasota to first class offices in zones 3 through 8, rising from 20 pounds. Future steps reach 30 pounds in 1968 and 40 pounds by 1970 with size limits expanding to 84 inches in 1971.

Kiwanians Attend 52nd International Convention in Houston
Three Navasota Kiwanians are official delegates to the Kiwanis International Convention held at the Sam Houston Coliseum in Houston from Sunday through Thursday. City commissioners approved a 478 600 total budget for all departments for 1967 68 in a split vote. Police salary increases were deferred to the city manager and mayor within the budget while noting any upgrade would require efficiency gains. Mayor Treade and commissioners outlined that future raises would need budget discipline and efficiency. Three Month Park Attendance Reaches Eighty Eight Thousand
Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park drew 31 518 visitors in March 31 656 in April and 24 831 in May totaling 88 005 for the March through May period. Swimming Students Stage Water Show Friday Evening
Commencement exercises for American Red Cross swimming class students will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at the pool.287 children will perform including water ballet and precision swimming with a 10 a.m. Saturday rain date. Mrs. Jack Baker leads the 2 ½ week course with assistants including Mesdames Largent Weaver Terrell Moore and Falco Jr. Five classes span beginner to advanced swimmers. Lifesaving classes led by Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Largent start Monday July 3 at 8 30 a.m. and run five days.
