Parker Opens $160000 Livestock Facility Near Carlos
Grimes County welcomes a new agricultural development two miles south of Carlos with Parker as owner. Tommy Parker moved his Houston livestock brokerage to the $160,000 facility housing yard, shed, trucking office and barn for 50,000 bales. He, two buyers, and twelve Houston families will operate, averaging 16 sales weekly from Lake Charles to Navasota, with capacity for 3,000 head and about 1,500 on hand. Parker, longtime in the business, describes a full service including feeding and veterinary work.

Burglary Suspect Arrested After Early Morning Break In
A 20 year old Navasota Latino man Joe Mendez was arrested at his Laredo Street home after a break in on Don Worthington’s house at 2 45 a m. Worthington’s daughter Vicky heard a noise and screamed prompting the suspect to flee. He was identified by the girl, arrested at 3 15 a m and held on a 5000 bond at Grimes County jail.

Burglars Use TV Mast to Enter Home Near Plantersville
Grimes County deputies investigated a burglary five miles south of Plantersville at a Dale Hess owned building on Farm Road 1774. Entry was made through an upstairs window after burglars climbed a television mast. Missing items included electronic test instruments, a portable stereo record player, television tubes, and canned goods. The crime occurred between June 6 and 2:30 p.m. Saturday. no arrests were made.

A stereo entertainment center and several pre recorded tapes were stolen last week from the Tyfield Paskett place between Anderson and Plantersville off Farm Road 1774. Chief Deputy Sheriff Bill Foster said entry was through a back door. No arrests have been made.

Six shaken Sunday in two car mishap
At 10 50 a m Sunday six persons riding in a car were injured in a two vehicle collision with a 15 foot travel trailer at South LaSalle and Horn Streets. Wesley Clifford Reeves of Beaumont drove the trailer in a southerly direction. Daniel Stevenson of Pearland drove the other car and failed to yield the right of way. Reeves and five passengers received minor treatment and were released. Stevenson was charged with failure to yield.

Water supply project approved for Plantersville area
The Dobbin Plantersville Water Supply Corporation received notice on June 11 that its water system project serving Plantersville Stoneham in Grimes County and Dobbin Dacus in Montgomery County has been approved by the Brazos Valley Development Council. The project had prior approval from the Houston Galveston Area Council and loan aid was recommended. The preapplication was sent to the Farmers Home Administration for review and approval.

All area youngsters who have completed the first grade through age 18 are invited to register from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Navasota Municipal Pool for the 1975 American Red Cross Water Safety swimming lessons. Mrs. Hollis Hood, chairman of ARC's water safety committee, instructed youngsters to report with at least one parent. A $3.50 pool fee will be charged for each youngster. The first official session for the two-week course will be held Monday, July 7. Each class will run for 45 minutes. Adult night classes are planned beginning Monday, July 7, from 6 to 7 p.m. Tentative plans call for a water safety instructor's course to be held in August. Adults interested in participating should contact Mrs. Hood at 825-3176.
