Man Killed as Car Jumps Embankment Near Navasota
Welbe Thomas Watson a 51 year old Magnolia construction worker was killed when a speeding car left Highway 6 in heavy rain and rolled 60 feet down a Vaughan embankment near the Navasota river bridge. Driver Herbert Fisher 23 of Magnolia was fined for speeding. Juan Chavas 29 of Knox City survived with second degree facial burns. Watsons funeral was held at Magnolia Baptist Church with widow Lydia and son Robert listed as survivors.
