Lola gas field reports eleventh well near Iola
A workover rig moved to the No 1 Shirley six miles south of Iola in the Thomas McDonald Survey for what is believed to be the eleventh find in the Lola gas field. Cashman Oil Co drills No 1 Shirley on a 366 acre Lewis E Shirley tract, with pay dirt at 9200 and 9600 feet.

TMPA Fights Grimes County Landowners With TROs

Rev Stevens New Methodist Minister in Navasota
The Rev. Robert Stevens becomes the new minister for the First United Methodist Churches of Navasota and Anderson assigning himself to Texas 45 for growth and service. He moved to Navasota on June 9 from Jacksonville Fla where he pastored Riverside Park United Methodist Church. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Mercer University and plans creative approaches to ministry in the Brazos Valley.

Central Grimes Firemen to Host Barbecue and Rodeo
The Central Grimes County Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual fundraising Saturday July 2 with an 11 a.m parade and 11 a.m to 2 p.m barbecue. An afternoon program features a cake sale bingo and a craft sale followed by an 8 p.m rodeo. Proceeds support the fire station under construction and a second fire truck funded by Brazos Valley Development Council. Contributions may be made to First National Bank. Fire chief Charles Boggess and president Bobby Wickey provide details.
