Ex-Convict Arrested For Robbery Attempt
William Joseph MacClellen, 28, an ex convict from Maxwell Nebraska, was arrested last Thursday at 9 55 am at the L H Rogers dairy farm where he attempted an armed robbery of Mr and Mrs L H Rogers. He drove a stolen 1945 Plymouth sedan from Houston two days earlier and after running out of gas spent the night on old Highway 6 near the Rogers dairy seven miles south of Navasota. He ordered the couple to call Mrs Rogers and demanded 900 dollars then 500 dollars but they had no money. He jerked the phone from the wall and the narrative continues on the back page.

It concludes Ferguson Crossing, six miles west of Carlos, offers lower cost per acre foot and greater storage than the U S Highway 190 site, with total estimated cost about 20.3 million versus 27.6 million for Highway 190.

Smith Explains Dairymen Price Cut Reasons
Roy Smith, head of the South Texas Producers Association, spoke at the Grimes County Dairymen’s meeting detailing why Houston area milk prices were cut. He showed Houston’s milk shed remains high versus other regions, noted Florida as a close comparator, and contrasted with Dallas covered by a federal order. Also noted were lower northern prices around 3.50 due to cheese plant use, and that 36 dairymen attended at the courthouse annex in Anderson.
