Head Start Registration Set for Friday at 9 A.M
Two federally funded education programs totaling nearly 234 000 dollars start Monday in the Navasota Independent School District. Head Start for preschoolers and Title I for third to fifth graders run parallel with meals and transportation provided. Classes run 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The auditorium hosts 9 a.m. Friday registration for Head Start. first official day is 8 a.m. Monday.

Tony Szymczak and his wife escaped serious injury after a four miles north of Navasota collision on Highway 6. A station wagon driven by Johnnie Lee Washington received a nose cut. Eleven CYO members rode in the lead car. five teenagers unhurt. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. Highway Patrolmen from Brazos County investigated.

Carver High School renovation approved by Navasota board
The Navasota School Board unanimously approved a 12 000 to 15 000 dollar renovation of Carver High School to be completed before September. Improvements include new sheet rock, lighting, heaters, blinds, floors, plumbing, and termite treatment, plus roof work at Carver Elementary. A new valedictorian and salutatorian rule for Navasota High takes effect in 1968. Superintendent Webb announced the resignation of commercial teacher Mrs Genevieve Beard and Title I staffing changes.

Two Women Injured In Navasota Headon Collision
Irene Claghorn and Bertha Golay both of College Station were seriously injured in a head on crash eight miles north of Navasota on FM 244. They were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan. Claude H Lindsey of Houston was charged with driving while intoxicated aggravated assault with a motor vehicle and driving on the wrong side of the road.
