Grimes Youth Fair opens three day run in Anderson
The twentieth annual Grimes County Youth Fair runs June 15 to 17 at the American Legion fair grounds in Anderson. Events start 8 a.m. Thursday with swine judging, featuring rodeos at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, plus calf scramble and livestock auctions. Judges include Dr. J A Nance of Sam Houston State University. Winners announced at 9 p.m. Saturday.

Murder Suspect Pleads Guilty Gets 30 Years
Milton Z. LaFarn of Montgomery was sentenced to 30 years in Huntsville for the January 28 shotgun killing of a Grimes County liquor store owner. The 55-year-old pleaded guilty in Grimes County Court at Anderson after capture by Tucson police and return to Grimes County following indictment by the Grimes County Grand Jury.

Testing Continues Positive TB Reactions Here Alarming
The state health department reports Grimes County TB testing reached 2,629 residents across four areas boosting coverage to 47 percent of the county population. In Navasota participation was weak with 462 tests at the school cafeteria on Sunday. 209 positive results led to mobile x-ray screening by the San Jacinto TB and Respiratory Disease Association.

Weather volunteers extend county testing weeks tests results due Thursday
Volunteers conducted two more days of testing at the county location Monday and Tuesday this week with results due Thursday between 3 and 8 p.m. A mobile x ray unit will assist those who missed the van. Richards Anderson and Plantersville tests drew 318 667 and 258 people with 41 reactors at Richards. Health officials provide free x rays to those with positive reactions from county skin tests. Budget hike funds parks and library in Navasota
Navasota City Commission increased the 1972 73 budget by 8000 dollars raising total to 702200 dollars by adding 4000 dollars for the Grimes County Library and 4000 dollars for city parks.
