James James sweeps Atlanta high hurdles at 13.6 for meet record
Jesse James of the Rattlers won the 120 yard high hurdles in 13.6 seconds at the Atlanta Track Classic in Lakewood Stadium Atlanta tying the all time meet record. He heads to Chicago next for the Northwestern University meet with Coca Cola backing and hopes for an expenses paid Hawaii trip with a win.

Cash prizes totaling 410 will be awarded for float entries in the Grimes County Bicentennial Parade July 4. First prize 200, second 100, third 50, fourth 35, fifth 25. The three day celebration runs July 2 to July 5 with a street dance, parade entries urged from many groups, motor powered floats only, and officials to be signposted. VFW Post 4006 will supply color bearers and honor guard.

Grimes County business and professional people will bid on FFA and 4-H livestock Thursday night at the American Legion grounds in Anderson. A buyer's supper begins at seven, with the sale starting at 8:30 in the new show building. Last year’s total sales reached 36,559 dollars, topping 1974 by 2,588 dollars.

Grimes County voters backed incumbent County Commissioner Albin Finke 1,615 to 413 over Robert A. Harris in the Democratic Primary runoff for Precinct. Tractor Death of Houston Youth in Grimes County Mishap
A 16 year old Houston youth, David Wayne Pasket, was killed when the tractor he drove overturned on Farm Road 149 three miles west of Anderson. He was towing a hay rake, fell into a ditch, and suffered chest and head injuries. He died at Grimes Memorial Hospital. The death was ruled accidental and counted as a motor vehicle accident in Grimes County. The body was sent to Lindley Robertson Funeral Home. Three escapees were reported in Tomball. authorities pursued 36 year old Thomas G McGaha in Houston area.
