Grimes County hosts Splash Day with 312 pupils at the Navasota pool as 25 aides assist 14 instructors in a 1965 American Red Cross program running Monday through Friday through June 30. Seven Scholarships Offered for Reading Course at Navasota
Seven tuition scholarships for the Navasota Elementary summer remedial reading course will aid third to fifth graders who need help but cannot pay 15 dollars. With 13 enrolled and a 20 pupil minimum feared, Mrs. Fay Gimon will teach if demand holds. The program runs three hours daily 8 to 11 a.m. through Friday July 9.

Charges Filed as Woman Killed in Headon Crash
A 39 year old Houston woman Mrs Victoria Dorothy Yanchak of 12014 Meadow Pass was fatally injured in a two car head on collision five miles south of Plantersville on FM 1774 at 6 45 p m Saturday. Henry Sims of Houston faces murder with an automobile and driving while intoxicated charges. Sixteen others escaped serious injury. Mrs Yanchak died en route to Capital in Navasota. Funeral services were held at Assumption Catholic Church Houston. Burial Forest Park Cemetery Garden of Gethsemani. Driver Escapes Injury As Truck Hits Power Pole
A Navasota handyman A W Peterson escaped injury when his wrecker struck a Gulf States power line pole in front of Bill Dye Tire and Appliance Company at 607 North LaSalle Avenue. The crash forced him off the road after another vehicle pulled into his lane. Power lines fell, cutting electricity to parts of the city. spectators watched as rescuers freed Peterson from the cab with no charges filed.
