Nelie Bonner, about 61, was found dead Monday around 7 p.m. near Cedar Creek at Victoria street end. Fred Haywood and Floyd Nelms discovered him after dogs barked. Justice of the Peace ruled death by natural causes, likely three days old, identified by upper right teeth. Bonner from Foster farm near Nava sota. once a trustworthy patient at Rusk Mental Hospital. lived in Navasota again two and a half years. has a daughter who moved from Calvert to Chicago.

Navasota Centennial Plans Set for July 3–5
Final plans for Navasota’s July 3 to 5 Centennial Celebration were laid out at a steering committee meeting in the Gulf States auditorium. The event includes bridge dedication naming the span after Senator Neveille Colson, a trio of county officials coordinating the event, plus golf tennis swimming and Little League activities, a rodeo, square dance and a Sunday homecoming with a chicken barbecue. The Colson Bridge will bear two markers at either end and the dedication is a joint effort of Brazos County, Grimes County, Washington County authorities and the Grimes County Chamber of Commerce.

City Enacts Dog Ordinance Enforcing Rabies Vaccination and Tax
City officials announce a new dog ordinance requiring vaccination for all dogs within city limits and imposition of a two dollar male and three dollar female city dog tax. E L Granau, longtime Gulf States Utilities Nava so ta division manager, is promoted to Beaumont division chief. J B Hodge, currently Port Arthur manager, will replace him. Granau, a Bellville native and Texas A M electrical engineering graduate, joined Gulf States in 1920 after time with The Eastern Texas Electric.
