Life Guard Rescues 8-Year-Old At Navasota Pool
In Navasota a senior life guard named Bob Hall pulled 8-year-old De witt Clinton Brown II from the pool after he jumped from the diving board and struggled to return to shore. The boy, visiting from Dallas, was treated as Hall, trained by Red Cross instructor Mrs. Harry Journeay, ensured he could walk to the shallow end before rejoining the water. The Browns are longtime Dallas residents with the boy being the son of Dewitt Clinton Brown Jr. and the mother Irma Waller Brown formerly of Navasota High School. Hall is the son of H. T. Hall of Navasota.

James Greenwood Resigns to Enter Air Force Service
James L. Greenwood son of Mr and Mrs Reed Greenwood of Navasota resigns from Farquhar Pharmacy where he has worked as pharmacist since September to join the armed forces. New Braunfels Boy Wounded By Accidental Gunfire
J esse Hernandez a 17 year old laborer from New Braunfels was accidentally shot in the chest Monday while he and another boy shot at cans on the Tony Orlando farm. The bullet lodged near the right shoulder and was removed at Brazos Valley Sanitarium. Hernandez was released the same day.
