Loop ROW Purchase To Begin in 60 Days

Property appraisals are underway and actual right of way purchases for the Highway 6 loop around Navasota will begin within two months. Joel Hanover, district engineer for the State Highway Department, told Navasota Kiwanis at the Colonial Cafe. The $3,000,000 project calls for a four lane loop from Grassy Creek Bridge to the Navasota River with overpasses at railroads and at Highways 105 and 90, an underpass at FM 244, and a new Navasota River bridge. Computer aided photogrammetry sped topographic work. aerial photography was completed in February 1966. Bond funds were approved November 29, 1965.

Schulze Jr Named Director of Employee Relations at Anadarko

Grimes County Dairy Salute Highlighted By Local Firms

Eight Suspects Arrested for Shoplifting in Navasota

Eight Waco residents, all Negroes, were arrested in and around Navasota for a shoplifting spree at Brookshire Bros. Super Market on North LaSalle Avenue. The group was rounded up by Navasota police with Grimes County, highway patrol, and Texas Ranger Bob Werner, over a seven hour period. Bond set at 2000 for Linda Johnson. 1000 for others. Five suspects released on bond. three remained in custody.

Anderson To Carlos FM Road Approved

Joe G. Hanover, district engineer for the Texas Highway Department, announced approval of a 5.2 mile farm to market road from Anderson to Carlos. The $120,000 project, under the supervision of Resident Engineer Joe Piccolo, is part of 949.3 miles of FM RM roads planned in the new program across 166 counties.

Parade To Open 15th Grimes Co Youth Fair

Grimes County Youth Fair marks its 15th edition with a parade Thursday at 10 a.m. through Navasota, followed by youth horse show events, livestock judging, rodeos, and a Saturday livestock sale. Lions Club scholarships of 125 dollars each will be awarded to top boy and girl.

Red Cross Swim Class Registration Saturday in Grimes County

More than 300 area youths expected to register at 9 a.m. Saturday for Red Cross swimming classes at the municipal pool offices. The 15 day course runs Monday through June 30 with five 45 minute daily sessions per division. A water show is set for June 30 at 6 p.m. If weather fails, show moves to July 1 at 10 a.m.

Examiner Plans Mass Circulation Section June 29

The Navasota Examiner will publish a mass circulation tabloid for display ads and circular inserts on Wednesday June 28. Advertising deadline is Friday June 23. The tabloid will be the second section of the June 29 issue, with 6000 extra copies for mail distribution in Grimes County.

School Board Hires Six New Teachers For 1967 68

Navasota School Board approved six new hires in a special session to fill most vacancies for the 1967 68 faculty. Two new teachers join the high school staff as assistants to Head Coach Hollis Hood. The group includes three elementary teachers and three coaches, with remaining openings at junior high and special education.
