New Swim Season Underway at Pool
The Navasota Municipal Pool opened with a large turnout as a new $4,500 five pump filter system went into operation after a one day postponement due to weather. Pool hours are 2 to 6 pm and 7 to 9 pm on most days with midweek and Sunday hours varying. Admission remains 30 cents for students and 50 cents for adults. season tickets are $5 with 20 adult and 25 student swims, and unused swims from last year's tickets can be redeemed.

DWI Charges Filed in Fatal Accident Sunday
A 3 am Sunday accident on Farm Road 159 at Allen Farm killed 39 year old Walton Earl Woods of Brazos County. Enoch Williams of Navasota drove north and the driver received a magistrate's warning on a DWI charge.

Picnic To Close CF Day Camp At Camp Navatanka
A family style picnic begins at 6 30 p m Friday as a highlight of Camp Fire Day Camp at Camp Navatanka three miles east of Navasota. The camp runs this week after a Tuesday opening delayed by Monday rain. Mrs Roy Sanders, camp director, asks families bring own sack lunch and picnic supper. Friday’s ceremony is the only time parents may inspect operations as visitors are restricted otherwise. Visitors will see handwork completed by the campers.
