Summer Recreation Program Opens in Navasota
Director Julius Novak announces a Monday start for the town's first summer recreation program in Navasota. Activities run Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30 to 11:30 with sports including ping pong basketball and volleyball plus arts crafts. Weekly tournaments begin in the second week and a Friday night co recreational program runs at 7. Volleyball leads the Friday events while weight programs are planned for junior high and high school boys.

Dr John Tucker to Join Navasota Medical Center Staff
Dr. John Tucker will join the Navasota Medical Center staff on Friday July 1 after completing a five year internship at Texas University College of Medicine Galveston. Summer School Classes Begin at Navasota High School
Summer school at Navasota High School started Monday with four courses offered. Principal Sol Everett said classes run 8 to 11 each morning six days a week for six weeks through July 9. Seventeen students enrolled in social studies including Texas history, American history and civics, and 11 in biology. Instructors are Bobby Morrow and Wally Watkins.
