Installation Service Held At Zion Lutheran
The Rev. Alvin G. Meissner was installed as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson during a 2 p.m. service. Liturist was Rev. Arthur J. Niemann, with sermon by Rev. Carl Heckmann, president of the Texas District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Assisting pastors included Gerald Diseher, John Allmann, Gordon Albers, George Becker, and Harold Meissner. Organist was Miss Melva Wehmeyer. Meissner, born November 17, 1933 in Cranfills Gap, Texas, is a Lutheran Concordia College Austin and Concordia Seminary St. Louis graduate who completed his seminary degree in 1958. He previously taught at Alabama Lutheran Academy and College in Selma.

Funeral Services Held for Mother Of Sen Colson
Mrs. Walter J. Higgs, mother of Senator Neveille Colson of Navasota, died at 7:10 p.m. Thursday in a Bryan hospital. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Hillier Funeral Home chapel in Bryan with ministers Richard H. Thomas and J Mack Endsley officiating.

W. C. Hudson 58 of Bryan died at 10 58 am Wednesday December 14 after a freight train and eastbound State Highway 30 truck collided near Shiro. His brother Jack Hudson 53 injured seriously with multiple fractures. Funeral held at Central Baptist Church. Standpipe Demolition Ends Navasota Landmark's 73-Year Run
The 90-foot H Schumacher Cotton Warehouse standpipe in Navasota toppled at 7 30 p m after a two hour struggle with trucks and cables. John Soto and Joe Rena attempted a dual pull using a 150 foot cable and eight 500 pound cotton bales but failed as the pipe tilted toward State Highway 6. Traffic was redirected as workers paused before final failure.
