Fire Destroys O C Taylor House In Navasota
A two alarm blaze gutted the O C Taylor residence near State Highway 105 in Navasota Thursday morning. No injuries reported as 11 firemen battled the flames until noon. The cause was grease on a stove. Event overshadowed by a county residency consolidation discussion with Texas Highway Department officials at Fiesta Restaurant.

Navasota High School bid comes in over budget
Navasota School Board opened bids for the new high school complex and found the lowest bid at 1,906,000, about 233,000 over the 1,673,000 budget. Supt. John C. Webb said trustees refused to accept any bid, directing architects to negotiate with the low bidder to trim costs. If negotiations fail, the project may be rebid around March 1974.

City approves gas bid and sewer project in Navasota
The Navasota City Commission accepted a low gas distribution bid from Brazos Valley Utilities of Bryan after trimming the cost to about 64 381 by altering construction methods and removing some repair work.
