The National Youth Administration building listing the FFA shop and Navasota high school band hall will be transferred to the Navasota Independent School District following action by the Navasota City Commission last Friday afternoon. Built in 1939 40 with federal and city funds, its 1947 separation of city and state authorities initiated the transfer plan.

The Texas & New Orleans Railroad requests authority from the Texas Railroad Commission to discontinue night passenger trains Nos. 17 and 18 between Houston and Dallas. A hearing is set for January 30 in Hearne to hear evidence for and against the proposal. T&NO cites annual losses exceeding $100,000 and declining patronage since World War I, with continued losses likely. If approved, mail may shift to other trains and highway trucks. The Owl at Navasota would cease service alongside earlier eliminations of the Sunbeam and Mustler daytime services.

Brewer Wins Top Scout Camping Award Saturday
Ernest Brewer of combined Boy Scout troops 361 and BOK received top honors for the best uniformed Scout at a weekend camping trip on the D. V. West place near Navasota. He was presented with a first aid kit by R A Patout for his achievement. Twenty Senats participated in the camping outing and inspection. Wm Albert Miller and Connie Winborn were the inspecting committee men for the Navasota Kiwanis Club, sponsors of the two Navasota troops. Tommy Wheeler and Brewer shared credit for the best pitched tent among ten tents. Scoutmaster George Klett praised the adults who supervised the trip and noted the Sunday religious service conducted by Klett.
