The Chamber of Commerce begins mail ballot voting for eight nominees to fill four director vacancies for 1968. Ballots were mailed by secretary Lois Glover and must be returned by Saturday with results to be announced at a Tuesday meeting. Spine Injury Paralyzes Thursday Wreck Victim
A 19 year old Springtown youth was paralyzed from the chest down after a Thursday accident on North Highway 6 in Brazos County. Donald Sharp remained under care of an Austin neurosurgeon following a thoracic spine injury classified as secondary paralysis. The wreck involved two trucks when an empty trailer overtook the Sharps’ vehicle, as Sharp’s father Julius Dewey Sharp watched. The youth was under the truck tractor when it was struck from the rear and ran over, with the incident investigated by Highway Patrolman Don Sybert of Bryan. Continued on Page Fourteen.
