NHS juniors and seniors present a two hour talent show at the school auditorium Friday Dec 8 at 8 pm. General admission 75 cents adults 50 cents students 25 cents for elementary. Master of ceremonies is Gene Knight senior. Eighteen acts include out of town talent Miss Patricia Ballew from Madisonville and a sequence of songs dances and skits listed in order.

Solly Bradley Killed When Car Leaves FM 1774 Embankment
A 29 year old farmer Solly Bradley of between Anderson and Plantersville died when his 1952 Chevy failed to turn at an intersection and plunged into an embankment north of Plantersville. Highway Patrolman Bob Connell reported Bradley was attempting a left turn from Blackbery Road toward Plantersville. He was killed instantly and funeral services were held December 6 at Coaxberry Baptist Church Plantersville.

Christmas Parade Opens Navasota Season With Marching Band
The Allen Academy Marching Band and Drill Team led the big Christmas Parade through Navasota’s business district Friday. About 2,000 people from Grimes County watched 18 floats 2 bands horseback riders and Santa Claus launch the season. Fireworks at Brule Field capped the day as Chamber of Commerce officials called the event a huge success.

Cotton Producers to Vote on ’62 Referendum Tuesday
Grimes County cotton growers are reminded that Tuesday December 12 is the day to vote on the 1962 cotton referendum. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. voters will decide whether marketing quotas will be in effect and hear about price supports tied to allotments. If quotas pass, supports range 65 to 90 percent of parity. if not, supports are planned at 50 percent. Eligibility covers those engaged in cotton production in 1961 and listed groups such as those sharing in proceeds or owners/operators of a farm for that year.

Mike Muse 23 Dies In Three Car Crash Near DeRidder
Funeral services were held for Mike Muse 23 son of Mr and Mrs Frank Muse of Navasota who died in a three car crash near DeRidder Louisiana on a Sunday early morning. The Fort Polk Specialist Fifth class was a passenger in Welby Falkenberg s car as the two vehicles collided head on with a fourth car in the area. Melton Wallet 28 of DeRidder also died. Muse s survivors include his parents and two sisters. Rosary was recited Monday night at Lindley Robertson Funeral Home. burial was at Oakland Cemetery under Company B 386th Engineer Battalion 49th Armored Division.

Mrs P J Imhoff Burned In Home Accident at Plantersville
Mrs P J Imhoff 83 of Plantersville suffered second and third degree burns on 40 to 50 percent of her body in a home fire caused by an open flame heater. The incident occurred at 2 45 p m Friday Nov 29 as she tried to remove burning clothing and was aided by her son in law Mr Imhoff before an ambulance took her to Brazos Valley Hospital.

Funeral services for Bill White 12 in Navasota
Funeral services for Charles William Bill White 12 son of Mr and Mrs Lawrence E White of Navasota were held at St Patrick Church with Rev Joseph Schnieder and Rev A W Raye officiating. Rosary was Sunday night in Lindley Robertson chapel. Burial in Oakland Cemetery. He died after a 30 30 deer rifle discharged while being placed in a pickup five miles north of Navasota on Highway 6. The rifle fired when his uncle Melvin White reached into the cab to rack it. the bullet hit him in the chest on a trip to Brazos Valley Hospital. He was a seventh grader, Boy Scout Troop 361 member, and played Junior High football. He worked at Rotello’s Food Market. Survived by parents, two brothers Ronnie 4 and Larry 9, sister Marian 7, and grandparents Rotello and White families of Navasota. Pallbearers named from Navasota and Blanchard.

Gulf States will hold its annual Christmas Party for employees and children of the Navasota Division Friday night December 15 at 7 p.m. at the Fireman's Recreation Center.
