The outfit will include a silk suit hat socks underwear and slippers. The leather workers union has sent Debs 24 volumes of Shakespeare bound in satin in a silken case.
Chicago reports Health Commissioner Robertson's reduction class ended four months of trial with an average loss of 10.5 pounds. Susie Jones, 45, weighed 240.5 pounds on April 22 and dropped to 212 pounds, leading the group. Other members shed 18 and 16 pounds with losses down to two pounds.

Philadelphia, May 22. Grover Cleveland Bergdoll, recently sentenced to five years on Governor's Island, escaped from two army sergeants at his mother’s home here. He vanished in his car while the officers, who were guarding him, sat in the drawing room. Bergdoll had been on a furlough to attend to business matters and was believed to be under competent military instruction to visit another city. He had a long criminal record and his brother Erwin is also missing. The case drew renewed attention to his wartime desertion.
Henry Walton, a Louisville fireman, slipped during an exhibition and fell four stories. He was to be passed between windows when he landed on ground rescuers who locked arms to catch him. Walton suffered a head wound and numerous bruises but the rescuers escaped with only minor injuries.
