A London dispatch reports Polish troops gain near Pripet with Soviet units fleeing. Polish officials claim 2,800 Bolsheviks captured and several aircraft seized as Ukrainian unrest and Soviet resistance falter amid ongoing Poland offensive plans.
Washington discussion centers on a Knox peace resolution seen as abandoning wartime aims. Debates loom as Republicans plan to block action while Democrats push for a floor vote before conventions in June. Homer S. Cunimnings, Democratic leader, opened the attack, demanding renewed evidence of moral failing within the Republican Party.
New York reports Johnson leaders undecided on seeking Chief Justice Gomaiere to waive the $40,000 cost of a recount. If not granted the Johnson campaign may pursue permission to review cert district counts alleging tram activity. They previously said raising $350,000 would be impossible.

New Haven May 3 Roberto Fiore 38 a wood chopper of East Haven was hacked to death with an axe on a farm. Alfredo Maligno 87 also a wood chopper was captured and confessed according to police. The slain man and suspect worked on the George de Poto farm near Foxon North Brantford, where the axe was buried.
Mounta an Mash May 3 City and state police resumed their hunt for the murderers of Olive J aklund a Providence chauffeur whose body was found at the bottom of a small pond near the old Taunton fair grounds. The car driven by Wiklund was found in Dorchester last Monday bloodstained. Autopsy planned to determine death manner. Pocket contents turned inside out suggest robbery as a motive.
Torrington youth Lopowski, recently discharged from reform school, is charged with wrecking the Winsted New York trains on the New Haven line north of Hope. He allegedly turned a switch to a sidetrack causing a locomotive to plow into standing cars, but no injuries occurred. Lopowski confessed and warned detectives not to believe him.
Ten people were killed and 20 injured by an eight score tornado that wrecked Peggs Oklahoma yesterday. A special train carried physicians and nurses to the town which has about 200 residents.
President Wilson allowed Mexican federal army officers to pass through the United States en route to Mexico City from Sonora. The move, while letting them traverse Arizona and New Mexico, bars Texas on return. Carranza officers Gen Jose Riog and Gen Manuel Gamon led the party with their staffs and families. Governors opposed in Texas, others agreed.
A reward of 2,500 dollars was offered for Jules W. Arnstein and Nicholas Cohen, named as masterminds behind a 5,000,000 dollar securities theft from Wall Street interests. The notice, renewed after details from a messenger boy's confession, cites possible locations in Cleveland and a large estate near New York City as detectives pursue leads.
In Cleveland on May 3, Charles Cross, 27, a mechanic, went on a shooting spree injuring seven people including his wife and her aunt. Police responded with patrol wagons that hit a child and an old man. Officers then cornered Cross and shot him and the landlord, both in critical condition.
Washington May 3 Supreme Court will not announce a ruling on constitutional prohibition until May 17 after a two week recess. Court failed to issue any decision today on the dry dispute and indicated the lengthy opinion requires time. No further arguments will be heard until next October.

James J. Larkin agitator and editor of The Revolutionary Age was convicted last week of criminaliarehy and sentenced by Justice Weeks to not less than five nor more than ten years in Sing Sing prison in New York.
Boston police took two young men into custody in connection with the murder of Oliver L. Eklund missing Providence chauffeur whose body was found in a Taunton mill pond yesterday. They were held for questioning at police headquarters after a grilling.
New Bedford Mass May 3 8000 textile workers go out in a district wide strike affecting 87 mills in 18 corporations causing widespread non production as 50,000 employees are expected to be idle when plants close and wage demands are not met. The halt hit most mills with few opening.
About 18 000 textile workers walk out in New Bedford after Mayor Ashley failed to secure a new wage contract with the Manufacturers' Association. At least 12 of 18 mills shut down as pickets guard sites and the textile council calls for calm while seeking a meeting with manufacturers.
In Lawrence Massachusetts the Amalgamated Textile Workers strike failed to materialize after union heads announced the action off while reconsidering wage demands. Reports said American Woolen Company mills might shut down if demands persisted. executives called that a lockout. Allied trades waived higher pay, stationery engineers vowed to ignore demands, and local firms including Lawrence Timber and Pingree Box closed due to a strike seeking a 25 percent raise and a 44 hour week.
Rumors swirl over a 2 way coalition against McAdoo at the Albany Democratic Conference this week with talk of Edwards teaming with Ohio Governor Cox. Mowards declares plans to insert a wet plank into the Democratic platform as a bold move.
Indianapolis May 1 Indiana will send an uninstructed delegation to the republican and democratic national conventions. None of the four republican presidential aspirants in the primary is expected to win a majority of Indiana's 36 delegates. The race for a plurality centers on Hiram Johnson versus Wood, with Frank Lowden pressing for third. Warren Harding wrapped up his speaking today as Wood and Johnson closed their campaigns.
Laredo Texas May 3 reports say desertions from the Mexican federal army have swollen the ranks of revolutionists, threatening President Carranza. Advices from Mexico City claim vast disaffection across states, with garrisons revolting, troops defecting to the Obregonistas, and bands menacing Carranza’s government amid Sonora secession support.
In Nome on May 2 night the outlook for Premier Nitti grew tense as the Catholic party national council reportedly opposed his policies. It accused him of favoring socialists ostracizing labor unions and failing to resolve the Adriatic dispute from San Remo. Rumors tied Signor Bonomi as a possible successor amid a four hour cabinet session on the Adriatic question.
