Newington lottery shooting leaves five dead
Matthew Beck, 35, a state lottery worker on stress leave, opened fire in a Newington headquarters meeting, killing lottery chief Otho Brown and four others before killing himself as police closed in. Witnesses said Beck planned the rampage, pursuing Brown into the parking lot and firing, then shooting his supervisor and others before a self-inflicted death. Governor Rowland called it a mourning act of violence.
