Lord Kitchener reports from Pretoria on March 6 that Delarey’s Boers attack Lichtenburg, 23 miles from Mafeking. About 600 garrisoned troops resist with resolve as Mayor Fletcher and Lieutenant Hall are killed. Reinforcements are being sent.
The Kaiser escaped serious injury after a missile struck his cheek while travelling from the Ratshalle to the Bremen railway. Dietrich Welland, described as an epileptic, threw iron door plate at him. the wound was one and a half inches long, bleeding, and the Kaiser slept well through the night. In Washington a Mrs Loshe of Stamford Conn died from heart disease at a pension building concert, leaving two children and a son Attorney G Fred Loshe.
Durban Mercury states Compan dyna byte bruit has surrendered and Guin mandwut Priustane along with 60 burghers have been captured in ongoing hostilities.

Bethlehem Pa March 7 Oliver Laubach 28 son of Superintendent Laubach of Bethlehem Electric Light Co was decapitated last night by a moving locomotive as he left the works to board a crew train. Marion Ind March 7 the 18 month old son and 8 year old daughter of Mrs Perry Peele burned to death and home destroyed at Matthews today. The mother was away a few minutes and the children died in the blaze resulting from the fire in the residence.
