Berlin March 4 Special democrats in the Prussia assembly bitterly opposed plans to restore much of the former Kaiser’s wealth and to settle lands won by him. Debates on restoring his property were heated, with social democrats likening Wilhelm to an absconding employee and asserting he should not receive salary while away from duty. One speaker claimed Wilhelm is young enough to support himself.
Chicago reports indicate private rail supply firms have begun restoring services as government control ends. Vendors say orders lag 60 to 80 days, with a surge in demand in recent weeks ahead of private control return. Labor and material shortages hinder equipment production.
About 200 workers at the Revere Sugar Refining plant in Boston join an ongoing strike by duck men, hand1e machinists and sheet metal workers.
