Miss Frances Sage Earns Degree from Ladycliff College

Miss Frances Sage daughter of Mr and Mrs Donald Sage of 174 North Hoadley Street earned a BA from Ladycliff College Highland Falls New York on May 26. She was active in the Dramatics and Spanish Clubs and elected to Alpha Mu Gamma. She majors in Spanish and attends a summer graduate program at the Ibero American Universidad in Mexico City.

Diplomas Awarded at Shepard Gill School of Practical Nursing

Two local girls earned diplomas among 98 graduates at the Shepard Gill School of Practical Nursing in Boston. Miss Helen G. Packer, daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry T Packer of 444 Prospect St, and Miss Geraldine F. Mitchell, daughter of Mr and Mrs John J Mitchell of 33 Clearview Circle, received diplomas at commencement exercises on Friday June 27. The class was accompanied by Arden Schofield, organist, for the musical program.

Waldemar Bazenas son of Mr and Mrs Ludwig Bazenas of 153 Ward St graduated from Amherst College Massachusetts on June 6 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics He was a 1965 Naugatuck High School graduate earning three varsity letters and a freshman numeral in basketball He served as co captain of the team and was recording secretary for two years of Theta Delta Chi fraternity

Miss Mary Kathleen McVerry daughter of Mr and Mrs Aidan McVerry of 87 Damson Lane earned a Bachelor of Arts at Annhurst College 25th annual commencement exercises on June 1 She served as editor in chief of the 1969 yearbook and was active in Literary Club the Student Education Association of Connecticut the College Glen Club and the college newspaper She was elected May Queen in May presiding over May Day and wrote the class poem read at Commencement Weekend She will teach English in the Torrington School system in the fall.

George Fisher Enrolled in Clinical Pastoral Education Program

George C. Fisher son of Rev and Mrs George Fisher is enrolled in the Summer School of Clinical Pastoral Education at Andover Newton Theological School Newton Centre Massachusetts. The twelve week program brings students and ministers from Protestant and Roman Catholic churches and theological schools to train as counselors and chaplains.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Curran of 35 Pearl Road celebrate two sons graduating on June 15. Michael J. Curran earned a BA in Arts and Sciences from New Haven College and joined English, Photography, and Weightlifting clubs. a 1965 Naugatuck High School graduate, he plans to attend Western Connecticut State College in September. Timothy R. Curran earned an Associate in Science in Tool and Manufacturing Technology from Waterbury State Technical College with honors, is an ASTME member, and received a Central Connecticut Chapter No. 148 scholarship. a 1967 Naugatuck High School graduate, he will continue studies in engineering in September.

At the Waterbury technical college commencement on Sunday June 15 one hundred twenty graduates earned associate in applied science degrees. Naugatuck residents Gene Giancarli and Howard Vagt completed evening division mechanical technology studies. Hartford University awards several MBAs and MEd in ceremony

The University of Hartford granted Master of Business Administration degrees to Charles D. Buckley Walter S. Kiczek Jr. John R. Johnson and Robert C. Wik, and a Master of Education to Carl L. Robert F. Vagt of Naugatuck, a Davidson College senior, named Distinguished Military Student for 1968 69 by the college ROTC. He earned second lieutenant rank in the US Army Reserve on June 7 and received his AB degree on June 8.
