Oakville Man Jailed After Memorial Day Assault Case
Ronald Whitehouse, 21, of Oakville, was sentenced to eight to 15 years for rape and seven to 10 years for assault with intent to kill in Superior Court. The offenses followed a Memorial Day night attack on Carol Waite of Naugatuck at Whitehouse’s Southbury cottage, with details of beer outings and a brutal beating. Waite underwent a four and a half hour operation for a depressed skull fracture and was hospitalized on the danger list before discharge. Public Defender Edward T. Carmody pleaded for clemency, citing Whitehouse’s service in Crete and Pakistan. The judge ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
