Obituary: Donald Woodfield 62 of Naugatuck
Donald Woodfield 62 formerly of 246 Quinn St died early today at New Horizon Convalescent Hospital after a long illness. He was born July 31 1911 in Naugatuck, son of Harold and Julia Woodfield Sr. An Eastern Malleable Iron Co employee, he belonged to St Michael's Episcopal Church. Survived by wife Dorothy, son Donald Jr of Prospect, daughters Zane Newell Waterbury Charles Sperlazza Plainville and Dorothy Laviana Waterbury, brothers James Harold Jr Kenneth Burgess, sisters Laula Luskay Oxford and Peer Becker Cheshire, 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Wednesday at 11:30 am Green & Packer Funeral Home Terrace Ave. Burial Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 9 pm.

Newhall Retires From CL&P After 28 Years Of Service
Robert S. Newhall of Middlebury retired from The Connecticut Light and Power Co after more than 28 years with the utility. A Philadelphia native, he joined CL&P in 1946 at Waterbury as an assistant engineer and rose to leadership roles, including campus manager at Naugatuck in 1952 and assistant center division manager in 1973. Active in industry and community affairs, he is a former member of the Street Lighting Committee of the Illuminating Engineering Society, a director and past president of the Naval Reserve, and holds roles in Rotary and St John’s Church in Waterbury. He graduated from Yale with a BS in industrial engineering, served in the U.S. Navy during World War I, and is retired in Waterbury.
