Frank Shea of Nexgatuck entered his eighth win yesterday by beating the Detroit Tigers 5 to 3. Newhouser was the losing pitcher, with Mayo and Swift accounting for Detroit's two hits off Shea. Mayo hit two homers, Swift two singles, and Mayo added another homer in the ninth. The Yankees pushed two runs in the second and three in the 11th to secure the victory.
United Press reports the minimum liquor price control bill heading to Governor McConaughy for veto. The measure requires manufacturers and wholesalers to file periodic price schedules with the liquor control commission and list brands handled. After prices are set they cannot be changed for three months, and establishments cannot sell unrecorded brands or engage in tie-in sales. The bill passed late in the session and reportedly faced gubernatorial opposition.
Bernice Murphy of 125 School Street was struck by a headlight hurled from a car that hit the Union City bridge last night. She suffered a possible fractured ankle and was treated at St Marys Hospital and released. Passenger Emo Gabani of 399 South Main Street sustained cuts to the head and face. Driver Raymond Klimas Gewali of Prospect Street was given emergency care and the operator was ordered to appear in borough court today.
An incinerator fire near the George Wigglesworth and Son fir building at 162 Maple Street was spotted by nine passersby at 10:97 last night. Box 84 and the Nangatuck fire department responded. Fire Chief John J. Sheridan said the blaze was on the Central Avenue side with no damage recorded.

Connecticut's six House members voted to override the President's veto of the Taft Hartley labor bill in the federal session, with mixed Senate votes from Raymond Baldwin and Brien Mest Mahon.
Noyjn Gabriele, 61, a native of Traly, died last evening at his home in Naugatuck after forty years as a foreman at the Naugatuck Chemical. Survived by wife, three daughters, four sons, two sisters, three brothers, and a granddaughter, services set for Monday at St. Francs church with high Mass at 9 o'clock. Burial in St James cemetery. Friends may call tonight after 7. Funeral arrangements by Buak Miller Funeral Home. Lundstrom invites all company foremen and employees to pay respects at 7 p.m. tonight at 172 May Street.
Alexander Materski an employee of J S Rubber Co died last night at his home 11 Wood Street He was a Polish immigrant who resided in Naugatuck for 38 years He is survived by his wife Myra Hedwig and seven children Joseph Gabriel and Richard all of Pevand Funeral services will be Monday morning at 9 45 from the Fixiterrabo Funeral Home 38 North Main Street to St Hedwig Church at 10 o'clock Burial will be in St Tases Cemetery Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow afternoon and evening from 2 to 9 o clock
Rev Frank P Niemiec succeeds Rey Jan Taporowski as pastor of the Polish National church on North Main Street. He previously led Haly Cross church in Thompson Wise Conn for three years and did two years missionary work in Milwaukee Wis. He is a graduate of Scranton Seminary Scranton Pa.
Louis Dietrich Grohs of Waterbury died suddenly yesterday afternoon of a heart attack. Born in Germany, he lived in Waterbury 65 years and worked for the American Brass Co. He was a member of the Second Congregational church. Survived by George W. Grong and five other sons, a daughter, brother, two sisters, 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services pending with burial in Old Pine Grove Cemetery.
The Methodist Church announces a summer schedule starting July 29 with worship at 10 o clock instead of 11 o clock. The change, approved by the official board, lasts until Labor Day Sunday.
