Waterbury Obituary Frank Matusevice dies at 89

Frank Matusevice 983 of 405 Washington Ave died Monday at St Marys Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Lithuania on Nov 15 1893 he lived most of his life in Waterbury. A carpenter he retired from Uniroyal 16 years ago and was a parishioner of St Josephs Church. He leaves two daughters Mrs William Spallone and Mrs David Caracaus two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral 9 am today from Deliniks Funeral Home to St Josephs Church for Mass at 9 30 Burial in Lithuanian Cemetery.

Youth Choir of Elkin to stage sacred concert at First Baptist

The Youth Choir of the First Baptist Church of Elkin North Carolina will perform a sacred concert at 8 p.m. on Thursday June 19 at the church. Rev Joseph Rust director will reprise a visit from five years ago with a program including This Is My Country Exalt Thy Name We Thank Thee Lord Praise The Lord Jesus Thou Joy Clap Your Hands and other selections. The event includes hospitality by local families with dinners at 6 p.m. and overnight rooms arranged. attendance is free with at door offerings to defray hospitality costs.

A Harvard University trained chemist joined Uniroyal’s chemical division in 1959 and rose through research and development and marketing roles to become director of marketing. He resides in Cheshire and begins his new assignments on July 1.

Park Board Plans Regulations and boating trial at Matthies Pond

BEACON FALLS The Park Commission votes to present park use rules to the Planning and Zoning Commission and to the State Department of Environmental Protection for concurrence. A town meeting will decide on boating at Matthies Pond, with the White Eagle Society sponsoring a trout stocking trial to test bond sustainability. The commission asks anglers to report catches to measure stock removal and remaining fish. A permit system will curb congestion at Pent Rd tennis courts, with a 4 to 8 pm peak and a half hour limit. Beverly Krenesky will distribute permits at town hall 1 to 2 pm starting Monday, and reservations must be made at least three days in advance. The Pent Ad riding ring may be used by nonresident clubs, per 4-H Ridgerunners Horse Club advisor Pat Hinman.

Eight people attended the Charter Revision hearing with four talkers and four non-talkers. Among talkers two opposed items and two favored items, a pattern mirrored by non-talkers.
