Lindbergh returns today to Minnesota to a joyful reunion with his mother. He abandons a plan to fly to Washington and bring back his plane, choosing instead to stay for a brief visit while writing his book contract. The event marks a happy moment shared by family and the famed aviator.
In New York a heated dispute erupts over who arranged the detective work and why Col William Mitchell blames the navy for Lindberghs Spirit of St Louis flying delay. Secretary Warner counters that the plane was reassembled by Wright engineers at Anacostia and well tested.
The corporation bureau in the office of the secretary of state is flooded with applications to incorporate under the names Lindbergh Slim and Lone Eagle. Special messengers rushed to Albany to be first to file under the famed young trans Atlantic flyer name.

New York June 15 Mrs E C Chamberlin of Denison Iowa sailed for Plymouth England on the liner George Washington and said she would risk a flight across the Atlantic in her son Clarenere Chamberlin's airplane if invited to do so It is deemed unlikely that the famed aviator will invite her to undertake the voyage
At Ascot Maeland June 15 the French horse Asterius won the Ascot Royal Hunt Cup with Priory Park second and Delius third. American entry Insight Gf did not figure. Prices were 10-1, 25-1, 6-2. The king and queen attended the race.
Shanghai dispatch reports three to five hundred soldiers perishing when commandeered junks capsized during withdrawal. Six vessels reportedly capsized from overload while each junk carried 1,200 to 1,600 mei. Sun Chuan Fang’s second army arrives at Tsingtao as Peking conference decisions loom.
Clarence M. Dunbar of Providence R I G C was officially installed as imperial potentate of the Shriners at Atlantic City New Jersey during the fifty third annual imperial council session. He succeeds David W. Crosland of Montgomery Ala as other Imperial Divan officers move up one step. An election for imperial outer guard was expected later, while a report from Hammond Ind about a message from President Coolidge was awaited.
Buenos Aires reports the central committee of the Argentine Syndicalist union ordered a general strike starting at 7 o'clock in the morning to protest the death sentences of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti. Railway, street car and omnibus workers did not join. Asuncion unionized workers also quit for one day in solidarity.
Quebec plans to dispatch a plane to the wild mountain district near St. Germaine township after signal flares were seen, raising speculation about aviators Charles Nungesser and Francois Coli. Locals may join a ground search while Indians of the region head south toward Lake St. John and St. Peter's Bay.
Buffalo authorities report affidavits from Hamilton Ontario source George Weyes claim several Buffalo jail guards aided prisoner Keyes in escaping on January 6. Sheriff Zimmierran office said the statements could prompt grand jury action. Weyes says key to the plan was a promised large monetary payoff to the jailers.
Clarence D. Chamberlin and Charles A. Levine, acclaimed American air pioneers, will tour the Zeppelin factory at Friedrichshafen after a Berlin reception. They plan to motor to Karlsruhe, fly to Friedrichshafen, attend a Zeppelin banquet, and later visit Vienna before rejoining their wives in Bremen. Levine will consult Dr. Eckener about a trans Atlantic Zeppilin venture.
Paris, June 15. Count Frederick De Janze was granted a divorce from the countess formerly Alice Silverthorne of Chicago on grounds of desertion. Custody of the children was awarded to the Count. The countess recently shot Raymond De Trafford and herself. De Trafford recovered and returned to England. De Trafford asked no prosecution. The Count claimed he proposed divorce if De Trafford would marry her, but he refused. The Countess had been intimate with De Trafford since a South Africa meeting.
In Montreal June 15 surveyors in the grand Caribouka river district are blamed for distress flares toward Cape Eternite mountain. Avila Bedard of the Forestry department notes two surveying parties in the area. Nungesser is not believed responsible, but fifty men and a search plane are dispatched. Theories place Nungesser and Coli with a surveying party or with Indians returning south with furs.
A divorce was granted today to Mrs Harry Hayes Morgan Jr of New York formerly Ivor O Connor. She charged her husband with refus ing to receive her. The Morgans, listed in the New York social register, have lived abroad. Charles Leiner was granted a divorce from his wife, the former Adelaide Lyman, married Covington Kentucky May 6 1920.
Waterbury reports Charles Pratt, committed to the George Junior Republic at Litchfield by his parents for burglary seven weeks ago, escaped during the night and was recaptured today. State officials say he left with property of fellow members and he will be tried tomorrow in Waterbury.
Two fires in Greenwich during the night led to estimated losses exceeding 35 000 dollars. The first consumed Mrs Imir R. Be Herezag s home near Ram Park with antique furniture and ruined gardens, while a separate blaze at Idgewood Lunch, owned by Lawrence Brennan, caused over 10 000 dollars in damages and injured Brennan who fought the flames. Authorities suspect a gasoline explosion started the fires.
New York report states Sir Thomas Lipton plans to try again next year after four failed attempts. He will return to England later this month to confer with William Fife on building a new challenger.
Paris reports W K Vanderbilt II and Mrs Rosamond I Lancaster Warburton, both divorcees, intend to marry in the United States. Legally Vanderbilt could remarry after August 30 when his divorce period ends, but they plan to delay the wedding a few months. Mrs Vanderbilt, formerly Virginia Fair, recently obtained a divorce.
New Haven police Captain Owen T. Walsh died at a hospital after an appendicitis operation performed Monday. He was 48 and survived by his wife and two children.
In Rome on June 15 the religious marriage of Senator Guglielmi Marconi, inventor of the wireless, and Countess Bezziscali was held at the Church of Santa Maria Degli Angeli with Cardinal Lualdi presiding. The civil ceremony occurred last Sunday.
Oakmont Va June 14 Walter Hagen shot 88 35 72 total 150 to take temporary third behind Harrison Johnston Sarazen in the national open championship. Bobby Jones, the champion, neared the ninth while Hagen rolled a dramatic 20-foot par save at the sixteenth and a birdie finish. Al Watrous trailed with 82 74 for 156. Jones had a rough eighth with three-putt for a five and trouble at the ninth.
Alyin Kelly, billed as the world flagpole sitter, remains perched in a bosun’s chair atop the St. Francis hotel in Newark. He has already reached eight days and nights and plans to stay one more week, aided by his wife on the roof feeding him and a barber set to shave him from a ladder. A 21 gun salute nearby shook him, breaking glass in Market Square during Flag Day events.
Many Naugatuck residents viewed the total lunar eclipse that began at 2 43 this morning and lasted until 4 55 am It marked the first total eclipse in thirty five years and drew interest as a notable celestial event observed locally.
