Avcollie Murder Case Details Emerge In Trial
Defense attorney Theodore Koskoff argues Wanda Avcollie death could be an accident or self-inflicted. Gary Cohen notes postmortem tests showed no throat fractures but some bleeding. The state aims to prove Avcollie strangled Wanda to pursue a romance with a teacher. Wanda, 43, mother of five, was found dead in a backyard pool in Naugatuck on Oct 30 1975 after a quarrel with Avcollie, 45, a former lawyer and Marine. He faced arrest weeks later and posted bond. He had served in Connecticut’s legislature and lost in 1974 as the lone incumbent Democrat.
