Mrs. Levesque Regains Town Librarian Post
In Prospect a special Library Board meeting restored former librarian Mariam Levesque to the post she held for 18 years before her ouster two years ago. Judith Dreher, backed by Republicans, lost 4-4 on a party line vote. Levesque indicated she could request a delay if the board pressed for it. she then voted. A secret ballot motion by Gladys Benson failed 4-4. Dreher remains librarian in the historic town building through month end.

Southbury Diver Dies at Bethesda Hospital
Ernest P. Bellavita Jr., 21, of Southbury Connecticut, died at Bethesda Naval Hospital Maryland after breathing apparatus problems during an Azores underwater construction assignment. Navy Seabees said he surfaced quickly and suffered the bends, was placed in a decompression chamber, and rushed to Bethesda as investigators review the accident. He was the son of Ernest P. Bellavita Sr. of Berkshire Street, Southbury. Funeral arrangements were incomplete.

Hospitals Expansion Approved in Connecticut Plan
Branford, Conn. The Connecticut Hospital Planning Committee gave initial approval to expansion plans totaling 5.0 million dollars for Backus Hospital in Norwich and Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington. A 3.5 million dollar program at Backus funds two new buildings including a surgery ward, while 1.5 million goes to Bradley for a doctors office building and adjacent parking. Final approval rests with the State Commission on Hospitals and Health Care.
