New Haven June 12 William Mills pleaded guilty to violating the Sunday liquor law and was fined 23 dollars plus costs while Salvatore Esposito was fined 315 dollars and costs in police court today. Two Guitar saloon keepers had cases continued until June 18. The yesterday clean up was the biggest in years with a dozen men drinking at one place escaping through a rear door. The saloon men had not been disturbed recently and seemed immune from raids.

Hartford June 12 Gov Simson NM Baldwin presided over the pardons board as 57 inmate petitions were received. Ten applicants spoke in person led by Joan Boudoin of Greenwich serving a sentence for second degree murder. He has been a prisoner since 1903.
Philadelphia June 12 Local Amalgamated Association of Street and Electric Railway Employees members may join Baldwin Works strikers after a conference with street car leaders and Baldwin executives. Labor leaders claim shared interests after reorganization of the Philadelphia Rapid Transit and fears the firm cannot fund raises. The central labor union backs the strike and the Locomotive Builders Council cites company policies in laying off workers. National union officers are present to advise.
In Willimantic on June 12 prosecutors say Italian bosses violate Aquor law by keeping liquor and selling to employees to keep them content. Caetano Mazzolo Michele Mazzolo and Vincenzo Alfredo plead guilty to sales on May 14 and keeping liquor for sale on June 4, fined 42.78 each.

William Maso, 21, was held on five thousand sixty dollar bail in Waterbury police court after being charged with vicious assault on Mrs. Richard May who was pregnant and holding an infant. She was kicked in the abdomen and is in serious condition. Maso claims he only tried to separate the attackers. Two men who assaulted her fled. Maso’s case continues Friday. In Old Saybrook, the ferry Colonial burning between Saybrook and Lyme caused by lightning destroyed the boat, with an estimated loss of four thousand dollars.
Bristol June 12 Connecticut league umpires did not strike yesterday. President W J Tracy said their absence in games was due to missing a conference departure for trains. He stressed there was no strike threat and denied any anger over the discharge of Umpire Bricelin.
Police and Yale officials investigate a disturbance in the New Haven college quarters said to surpass a prior incident where four students were penalized. Authorities refuse to discuss details until arrests are made.

Bridgeport June 12 report on a police raid at the University club one of the citys most exclusive venues. Investigators seized two liquor bottles and the US license while no arrests were made. Officials suggest the legality of Sunday and weekday liquor sales by clubs may go to the supreme court.
New Haven June 12 Long Island trolley riders may be served by Yale students this summer as conductors and motormen. An advertisement in the college paper invites applications at the Bureau of Appointments. It is joked that many Yale men have paid their way through college with summer work as trolley conductors.

In Corona New York a launch exploded off Strong's pier injuring Miss Gertrude Moran and Miss Minnie Reiners while six friends rode aboard. William Persch, the owner, leaped overboard to save Moran and later helped others to shore. The blaze spread from a gasoline leak blamed on a faulty pipe or possible spark from the engine.
A bare fist bout on the upper west side between two 16 year old boys ended with James Smith dead after Frank Burke knocked him out. Spectators rushed the injured boy to a drug store where an ambulance surgeon pronounced death. Burke was jailed on homicide charges as witnesses said the contest was fair. Other items note James F. McKiernan’s continued case for attempted blackmail in New Haven and Yale’s sophomore fence ceremony with Fletcher Van Wie Blood presenting and Almer Francis Jenks Jr delivering the freshmen acceptance speech.
