Steading Mags June 11 UP reports Lieutenant Colonel Richard E B Cobb a famed New England aviator and former army corps commander at Boston killed in action in the Far East. A Newport Rhode Island native Cobb served in World War I and joined the army in 1925 rising from private to commanding officer in Boston by 1935. He held speed records and first flew to Montpelier Vermont with typhoid serums during the 1927 flood. Assigned to Hawaii in 1940 he was there when Pearl Harbor was attacked. No details of his death were given in the War Department notice to his wife in San Antonio Texas.
