AABC Plans Shutdown Of Waterbury Tube Mills

Anaconda American Brass Co announces tentative shutdown of Waterbury Tube Mills by November 9 due to excessive costs. The Waterbury complex employs about 450 people and paid over $7 million in payroll and $700,000 in taxes in 1975. Losses of $93 million through April 1976 cited as main cause. production moved to other Brass Division mills if operations end.

Region 16 Board Faces FOI Commission Action

Housing Authority Sued By Albaitis

The Naugatuck Housing Authority faces a suit filed by Albaitis Brothers over unpaid work at Oak Terrace Elderly Housing. Jay Lor Builders is named as general contractor, with a prior April 4 agreement cited by Albaitis, which the authority says never existed. Middletown track gains gaming license amid renewal fight

WETHERSFIELD Conn a temporary gaming license was issued for the Middletown track by the state gaming commission as it moved to revoke the Wolcott track permit. The commission also set a July hearing on revocation while Saw Mill Brook Racing Association touted a potential next year opening though officials warned it could take about two years.
