Parishioners Honor Father Cooke On 25th Anniversary
The Rev. Jerome Cooke, pastor of St. Michaelis in Beacon Falls, was feted by parishioners to mark his twenty five years as a priest. The event featured a decorated church hall program with music and flowers, roses, a horseshoe with silver dollars, and checks from the parish, Ladies Guild, and other donors. A banquet followed in the church hall and a large cake shaped like the new church was shared. Father Cooke’s career included service at St. Thomas Thomaston St. Rose’s New Haven St. John Stamford Immaculate Connection Waterbury and St. Michael’s Beacon Falls where a new Maple Avenue church building later rose. He was ordained June 10 1922 by Bishop Nitan of Hartford. The parishioners and guest speakers praised his leadership and devotion.
