Third World Delegates Continue Negotiations

Delegates from 19 developing and 16 industrialized nations pressed talks on a new world economic order, reaching partial accords but failing to resolve energy policy and about $200 billion in Third World debts. Britain and the United States urged ongoing consultations. Javits urged continued dialogue as night sessions continued past 24 hours.

Senate Approves Liquor Price Fix Probe in Connecticut

The Connecticut Senate approved a $50,000 liquor industry investigation to study pricing and distribution. A 12 member commission, appointed by legislative leaders, would have subpoena power and report to the legislature by next February.

St Vincent Parish Council Meets Monday in New Haven Road

St Vincent Ferrer parish council will hold its regular monthly meeting Monday June 6 at 7 p.m. at the parish house on New Haven Road to advance plans for the August parish carnival. All council members are urged to attend. A general meeting of parishioners follows Tuesday June 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Grange Hall on New Haven Road where Pastor Vito BeCarolis will outline the year’s plans.
