Package Store Owner Dies After Fall
Charles D. Fredericks, 56, of 181 Rubber Ave is dead after a fall in his store. He died at Waterbury Hospital after striking his head on a counter while alone. He owned Charlie’s Package Store for 25 years and was a Knights of Columbus member and St Francis Church parishioner. He leaves his mother Emma Fredericks and several siblings. Funeral services set for Tuesday with Mass at St Francis Church and burial in St James Cemetery. Visitation today at Buckmilia Funeral Home.

East Haven Burglary Case Remains Under Investigation
Police said a man killed an alleged burglar and held another at gunpoint until officers arrived. The incident occurred after two men burst from a closet during a burglary at an East Haven apartment shared by Merv Desserte. Edward Hollowell, 28, was shot in the head. Eric Friker, 28, faced burglary and possession charges with a $25,000 bond.
