Colorful Parade Climaxed Memorial Day Observance

Nougatuck marked Memorial Day with a three day celebration ending in a large Decoration Day parade led by Marshal Adam Mengacel and his staff. Despite foul weather, the procession moved from Whittemore Memorial Bridge to cemeteries, with volleys, taps, and wreaths honoring veterans. Memorial services at St. Hodvis Church drew hundreds, as Major Johnson urged lasting peace and gratitude.

U.N. Plan Accepted for Palestine Truce and Ban

United Nations officials say Israel accepted a four week truce in Palestine and a ban on arms shipments to the Middle East. Local Group To Crusade For Children

A meeting to consider Naugutuck s role in the Crusade for Children will be held Thursday evening June 3 at 7 45 in the Connecticut Light and Power Co hall on Maple Street. Mrs Pitup H. Rica has accepted the chairmanship for Naugutuck and Mrs George W. Carroll is vice chairwoman. The Rev Paul F Keating pastor of St Francias church and the Rev T Bradley Jongetaff pastor of the Methodist church and president of the Na gutuex Council of Churches are honorary chairmen. The meeting follows a request from the Department of Suite and accords with the agreement made with about 50 other nations. A motion picture Stop Starvation will be shown.

Change Date For Stocking Hop Brook

Fred Baker chairman of the Naugatuck Fish and Game Club in cooperation with the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce announced a moved stocking date for Hop Brook. The restricted area will be stocked tomorrow at 3 PM and closed to all anglers until the contest begins Saturday morning. The area will be posted and patroled to prevent poaching. Chamber committee members Arthur L. Lawrence Hilding Olson and Dr. B T Rogers were announced. A planning meeting will follow at 8 PM tomorrow in the borough court room.

Locked Out At VFW Home After Memorial Day Parade

Regular Police Fire Appointments Likely Tonight

The board of warden and burgesses meets at 8 in the town hall to consider full time appointments and a tax review board member.
