Mount Morris New York reports a fatal house fire at the Grownd farm four miles from town at 4 30 this morning. Four persons died: Miss Alice Waseman four Ora Barrett seven Nelson Barrett five and Mildred Barrett three. James Barrett, father, escaped with his life after rescuing two children as flames engulfed the upper story. Authorities say the victims were likely overcome by smoke before the blaze reached them.
Weather cancels the outdoor mass meeting in New Haven where Herbert Hoover was to speak for Nour Mast relief. Hoover will instead address a large gathering at Woolsey Hall tonight. President Arthur Hadley and Yale Divinity School Dean Brown are also to speak at the event.

Miss Doris Louise Biggin and Thomas William Chiswell Jr were united in marriage at St Michael's Church by Rev Philip G Pearson. The couple left for a New York wedding trip and will reside at 488 North Main Street after January 1. Both are well known in the community and receive best wishes for a long, happy marriage.
Postmaster Hugh Hearns announced the Christmas mail volume this year was among the largest in office history. Over 12 000 Christmas cards were handled the week, extra carriers and clerks worked, and all mail was delivered before office staff began their holidays. No New Year’s delivery on Friday night or New Year’s Day.

New York December 28 William Tilden second of Philadelphia and William M Johnson of San Francisco will represent the United States in the first Davis cup matches against Australia at Auckland New Zealand tomorrow. Gerald Patterson and Norman K Brooks will defend the trophy against the Americans in the opening set with Brooks meeting Patterson and Johnson facing Brooks. The event launches the fifteenth challenge round with best three of five matches deciding the cup. Pat O Hara Wood and Rodney Metzth are Australia’s other players while Samuel Hardy and Watson M Washburn complete the American team. Matches were postponed from yesterday due to rain.
Samuel Coope of Harrison New York sues Coulter D Huyler of Greenwich seeking 15000 damages for injuries from a September 20 collision involving his motorcycle side car and an automobile in Greenwich. He alleges chauffeur Redfield reckless. requests 435.46 for motorcycle repair. Huyler faces another suit by Mary Elizabeth Bates administrator for the estate of Charles Bates, the passenger killed in the crash.

Washington December 25 There is a family reunion at the White House today. President Wilson and Mrs Wilson host Mr and Mrs Francis Bowes Sayre and Mrs William Gibbs McAdoo. Miss Charmelle Wilson attends as maid of honor. The President’s three daughters arrive for the wedding of their cousin Miss Marjorie Brown of Atlanta to Benjamin King of New York. President Wilson hopes to attend but weather doubts linger.
Mrs Muriel MacSwiney widow of the late Lord Mayor MacSwiney did not arrive at noon as planned being delayed by a Worcester Mass stopover. Her sister in law Miss Anna MacSwiney was welcomed at the station by women’s groups and others interested in the Irish cause. A reception at the Hotel Taft was set for this afternoon with plans for a mass meeting in the Arena tonight depending on her arrival.
Hjalmar Branting, head of the Swedish delegation at Geneva, reports to Stockholm that America will shortly join the League of Nations and that the league will become universal. He also said the decision on Sweden and Finland over the Aland Islands will be announced February 1.
