The letter states resignation is effective Dec 17 and notes her last day worked was Dec 12. Mayor Rado will seek a replacement after New Year. Boston Pops conductor Arthur Fiedler, 79, was admitted to New England Medical Hospital on Christmas Eve with pneumonia. A hospital spokesman said his condition improved to good with antibiotics. at one point his temperature reached 104 degrees and the illness will prevent a planned special appearance.

In Fulton County Georgia Superior Court Judge Charles Wofford ruled that alimony as defined by Georgia statutes constitutes sex discrimination and is unconstitutional The decision in the Murphy divorce case held the current alimony definition violates both Georgia and U S constitutional guarantees and upholds the husband’s challenge to the law asserting gender equality in support obligations.
