Canaperi Resignation Received

A hand written resignation from Assistant Borough Clerk Sally Canaperi was received today addressed to Mayor William C. Rade and the Board of Burgesses. The letter states resignation is effective Dec 17 and notes her last day worked was Dec 12. Mayor Rado will seek a replacement after New Year. The new wing is to be operational in January and expand office space.

Nixon Uses Commercial Jet For West Coast Trip

President Nixon chose a commercial flight to Los Angeles, planning a fuel saving gesture amid the energy crisis. The Spirit of 76 and support planes would burn thousands of gallons. security and White House staff accompanied him, while reporters scrambled for transport. Nixon remained in touch with the White House during the flight and avoided special treatment, observing standard first-class service.

Property tax second installment due January 1 1974

Tax collector Jean Reilly reminds residents the second installment on real and personal property from Oct 1 1972 becomes due January 1 1974. Any unpaid portion after February 1 accrues 0.75 percent monthly interest until paid. Payments accepted at Town Hall 9 to noon and 1 to 4 Monday to Friday or by mail.

PTA Dental Program Aims to Help Algonquin Students

The Algonquin and Community School PTA sponsors a dental program for K through 5 students. The plan covers cleaning and examinations at $2.25 per child, with fluoridation raising the cost to $3.50. Families with three or more children may qualify for additional considerations.

Prospect Woman's Club dental clinic for pre schoolers

The Woman's Club of Prospect will hold a dental clinic for pre school age children from January 14 to January 18 at Algonquin School. Appointments start January 7. The cost will be 2.50 per child. Fiedler Ill With Pneumonia

Boston Pops conductor Arthur Fiedler, 79, was admitted to New England Medical Hospital on Christmas Eve with pneumonia. A hospital spokesman said his condition improved to good with antibiotics. at one point his temperature reached 104 degrees and the illness will prevent a planned special appearance.

IRS Probe Sees Prices Near Compliance in New England

The spokesman said prices are within compliance. Regular gasoline averaged 44.8 cents in New England, with Vermont at 46.5 cents. Murphy said he failed to win Massachusetts congressmen to seek easing of the price restriction.

Alimony Ruled Out In Georgia

In Fulton County Georgia Superior Court Judge Charles Wofford ruled that alimony as defined by Georgia statutes constitutes sex discrimination and is unconstitutional The decision in the Murphy divorce case held the current alimony definition violates both Georgia and U S constitutional guarantees and upholds the husband’s challenge to the law asserting gender equality in support obligations.

Man Held On Four Charges In Borough Arrest

Stanley Retkowski 27 of Brookside Ave was arrested on four charges including possession of controlled drugs and breach of the peace. He was released on a $1000 bond and to appear in court today. Incident alleged occurred in September. Also arrested was Daniel L Weidner 25 of Chestnut Dr Wolesti for license and unregistered rotor vehicle. He faces a $150 no cash bond and a January 23 court date.
