In a Lower East Side six story tenement over 100 residents were alarmed when Black Handers set off a dynamite bomb. Fire fighters and police rescued occupants through windows as stairs were blown out. The building, owned by Salvatore Catalano a noted embroideries importer, had received a Black Hand demand for 1000 dollars before the blast.

Frank Buckley aged 28 stabbed his wife 26 at the home of a sick neighbor Mrs Louis Boggs in Wellston Ohio. Buckley ordered the neighbor to leave her bed and go out in the snow then drove away. He threatened to kill anyone who tried to arrest him or aid his wife. Pollyalman Henry Shirres shot Buckley through the heart. Buckley’s two children witnessed the crime.
