Della Construction Co Inc led 16 bids for the Industrial Park road project with a $841,015 proposal the lowest among bids opened by the Economic Development Commission. The official award will be decided at the January 12 meeting after bid arithmetic is checked. second low bid figures were also noted.

United Press International reports Richard Welch chief of CIA operations in Greece was shot and killed outside his home after leaving a Christmas party. Three masked gunmen in a black car opened fire as he stepped from a limousine. His death follows a published list of alleged CIA agents in Greece including Welch.
