London, Dec. 24. A German aeroplane dropped a bomb over Dover in foggy weather. The weapon exploded in a garden 400 feet from Dover Castle, breaking several windows but causing no fatalities. The pilot disappeared toward the North Sea after a brief sighting.
New York reports festive charity across the country with Salvation Army and other groups providing food and toys for the poor. European war's impact boosted giving as missions and city charities in New York distribute meals, clothing, and essentials, including turkey dinners for down and outs.

Five persons perished from smoke in a blaze on the top floor of 366 West 49th Street. The dead include Frank Corso 21 Charles Corso 18 Harry Corso Mrs Mary Corso and Grace Amedale. About 100 residents lived in the five story building.
