Smaller traders will be listed later, with up to 12000 or 15000 names expected. Anderson sent the lists to Senate Appropriations Chair Styles Bridges and other officials.
Miss Dorothy Moss a teacher at Naugatuck High School is listed as a surgical patient at St Marys Waterbury Hospital and is in good condition today. Anthony Kaegmitsu listed among Waterbury hospital patients shows slight improvement per hospital authorities this morning.
The ex Japanese premier Tojo is expected to testify in his defense at the Far East international military tribunal in Tokyo on war crimes charges. Defense witnesses include Shigenori Togo, who testified about Emperor Hirohito’s reply to Roosevelt’s message before the attack. Togo said Tojo and he obtained permission to send the reply without adviser consultation. The proceedings arrive as Nuernberg style trials unfold with other cases, including Friedrich Flick’s seven year term for slave labor at Auschwitz and related rulings.
More than 980 children attended the NEWS Christmas party at the Salem Playhouse. Santa Claus handed out gifts after a program of cartoons and comedies began at 11 o clock. Special presents went to 26 children whose names were drawn from a barrel.

Thomas Baxter longtime Naugatuck resident dies at home of his daughter Mrs Ene McLean aged 84. He worked 50 years at a local company and 27 more at Naugatuck Chemical. Survived by three sons, five grandchildren, and several nieces. services held at 15 Hillside Avenue with burial in St James cemetery.
Beacon Falls scout troop announces a waste paper drive on Saturday December 27 starting at noon. Residents should place bundled paper in front of homes for easy pickup by volunteers.
