Chemical Plant Receives National Safety Award for 3 Million Hours
The Naugatuck Chemical Division plant of United States Rubber Co earned the National Safety Council Award of Honor for three million man hours without a disabling injury. Ned Dearborn presented the honor to 1500 employees. Philip Rice received a certificate from US Rubber Co president Humphreys. The plant began its record on October 12, 1951, and now exceeds three and a half million hours with no disabling injuries. The award, the council’s highest, places the plant among a small group of recipients this year.
