Santa rode a miniature ladder and Merry Christmas perched on a high school custodian’s head. Paul E Buckmiller emceed with games including a pie eating contest and a bottle drinking stunt. Rubber City quartet performed while Frances Salvatore of New Jersey sang solos. Santa handed out gifts to the children before everyone moved to Meadow Brook to continue with more gifts and resident entertainment. The event, one of the best since the annual start, was noted for its festive spirit.

Boy killed in West Roxbury tire accident

Naugatuck Soldier Wins Citation For Bomber Mission
Corporal Edmund P. Bellettti, 22, husband of Ruth Bellett of Millville Conn departed for overseas last March and later served in Italy with the 15th Army Air Forces. His unit earned the War Department Distinguished Unit Citation for a July bombing raid on the Floridsdorf oil refineries at Vienna. Bellettti, an airplane mechanic, arrived overseas in March and April in Africa and Italy respectively after graduating from local schools and working for Homewood Forestry before enlisting in January 1943.
