Ex radio miller Ormiston, linked to the Sine Semple McPherson case, is in custody in Los Angeles awaiting extradition. He traveled from Harrisburg to California with co-defendant and faced possible indictment in county court. He said he would fight extradition to the last. A basement explosion sparked a $100,600 three story factory fire near the Manhattan Bridge end in Brooklyn. Over 100 firefighters battled the blaze as the roof collapsed. fifty men were carried down fire escapes and thawed in a nearby factory. Several suffered frostbite in temperatures near zero.
Augusta Maine December 18 Beavers have accomplished an unusual feat at the end of the Kennebago river in Franklin County. Unable to move two large trees the beaver colony built a temporary dam which diverted part of the river. The beavers cut up the trees and towed them to the dam at the river bank.
Water will be shut off this afternoon between and 4 p m to repair a leak at city streets near Union City east of the river and from City HU street north.
A sudden cold wave struck the Atlantic coast with a 26 degree drop in 12 hours. Forecasters had predicted snow and milder air, but temperatures fell to six above zero as biting winds helped drive the distress. Three men died from exposure as shelters faced heavy demand for aid.

New Haven December 18 Commissioner of Motor Vehicles Robbing B. Stoeckel told the governors of the Automobile Club of New Haven County at a luncheon that he will urge the next general assembly to pass a law allowing driver’s licenses for 16 year olds. He asked for revocation powers, a unit in his department to cooperate with safety agencies and courts, and funds for a Hartford building to house staff.

In Danbury a fire from an overheated stove caused about 5000 in damage to an apartment above Bosch Manufacturing and the plant damaging the factory area and crowded district as firefighters fought to halt spread.
Winstead Dec 18 The harsh winter cold gripped this region with Norfolk registering twelve degrees below zero and New Hartford noting similar depths. In this city business district thermometers showed six to ten below as harvesting concerns began on ponds nearby.

Heston December 18. A juror’s unusual declaration after a guilty verdict raises possible grounds for a new trial in Ruben Saul’s conspiracy to defraud Philadelphia wholesale dry goods case. Architect Griggs announced he could not judge others and was excused after seven hours of deliberation. Saul’s sentence is postponed until December 21 while legal actions may be pursued.
A special Naviga tuck Chamber of Commerce meeting adjourned to January 3 1927 to report on whether the chamber should continue operations. The board adopted a resolution to consider the organization’s future and to instruct a committee to investigate member sentiment. It named directors and called for a full membership vote at the January 3 meeting.
