Reports from Kavre France describe a Friendship Train food convoy turned over to four American relief groups in La Haven marking aid to France totaling 9,000,000 pounds. U S political notes discuss inflation bills, wage and price controls, and aid to China as Washington eyes rapid action.
A community event at Rocky Hill Hospital honors hospitalized veterans. The Crussydiey Gost led guests with music and a main program featuring Mean Spec Show and a gift presentation. Volunteers and local groups attended as the evening included beverages, entertainment, and calls for donations to support hospital services.

State police report a rear collision on Route 1 south of Beacon Falls when a Mariano Brothers Co truck struck a highway department truck after a dog chased a deer across the road. Anthony E. Mariano said he could not stop in time. no arrests were made.
Magnolia Encampment will host an Odd Fellows district gathering at Magnolia Hall on Saturday evening. Visitors from Ansonia Excalibur Derby Seymour and other encampments are expected as dignitaries perform degree work and a banquet is planned for guests.
Joseph Skridulis aged 77 of Mulberry Road died yesterday at his home after a long illness. Funeral from Buckmiller Funeral Home on Friday at 3:30 PM to St Trangis Church for a high Mass at 9 AM. Survived by daughter Mrs Albert Brown of Waterbury, sons Edward A and Walter of Naugatuck, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Friends may call this evening 7-10 and tomorrow 2-10. Burial in Jansen cemetery.
The Nonpattiele High School choir under Jesse F. Davis performs a program of client pieces before the senior play at 8:15 p.m. in the Fur d school auditorium. The choir, joined by the high school orchestra, opens with Gounod and Brahms works and includes several Christmas pieces.
Philip E. Rice retires as Factory Manager of the Naugatuck Chemical Plant United States Rubber Company and Donald McCollum becomes product manager of the Reclaimed Rubber Division in a January 1 transition. John P. Cox announces Tobias and Gaetz appointments. Rice and McCollum bring long service in war and postwar roles.
Elmer H. White vice president and general manager of United States Rubber Co Footwear Division spoke at the Naugatuck Rotary Club noon function. He discussed Naugatuck and the Footwear Division and was introduced by Rotary president John J. Carr.
The Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce adds four more sponsors to the Christmas lighting program: Charlie's Service Station, Naugatuck Public Market, Dr. Harold E. Davids, and Rela nd's Laundry. A holiday family party is planned with a tavern on City Packnes Stores Bridge Street and telephone 4802 Ady.

Wilfred R. Webster was elected president of the West Side Community Club at a meeting held at 396 Quinn Street with over ten members present. George Aspell became treasurer for a third term, Mon. George Kahanow was chosen secretary, and Aine AL Lawlor was reelected secretary.
Postmaster Frank T. Green was appointed chairman of the Naugatuck and Besoan Falls annual March of Dimes drive. The campaign runs through January 15 to January 20, with announcement made to Atty. Joseph E. Talbot of the Waterbury Chapter.
Prospect Street School sixth to eighth graders presented a Christmas cantata at a PTA meeting. The program featured solos by Walter Stankiewicz Edmund Buckley and Robert Smith with Milton Porter and Jonathan Wooster in the quartet. Ronald Packer orated and Jesse F. Davis directed the choir with Mrs Mery Donahue guiding students.
Christmas season brightens Naugatuck as the large community tree on The Green is decorated and lit. Fire marshal Michael F L Shea oversees the decor work funded by the Newspa Works Girls' Club, continuing a yearly tradition since 1981.
The body of Pfc. Robert A. Baumpter arrived in New Haven last night. A 43 member veterans delegation from World Wars groups met the casket at the rail station. An honor guard stood vigil during hours the funeral home was open before services at St Michael's church. Burial followed at Grove cemetery.
