The Green glows with Christmas lights as Santa arrives by sleigh and a large trailer hosts visits all week. The event, organized by the Naugatuck Lions Club, is free to the public with funds raised locally for gifts and candy. Schedule runs 2 to 4 30 pm and 7 to 8 30 pm daily, urging cooperation and good conduct.
The Na u g a t u c k Council of Churches led by Rab A Requa presented Handel’s Messiah yesterday at the Congregational Church. Soloists Joyceanne Kaneh Dorothy Hunniford Frederick Pratt II and Eugene Simpson sang with organist Roger Timands. Mrs Mary McCleary opened with an organ meditation and the choir concluded with an Amen.

Four properties belonging to Mrs Elizabeth Zwick and Mrs Wilhelmina Bennett are appraised by two appraisers for the Borough of Nutting and two for the owners. Theodore Farrell valued the properties at 28200 and J Peter Wands at 425000 while Alden Johns and James Moore appraised at 344700 and 47700 respectively. The owners are represented by the four appraisers and the case continues with related statements about home progress and local improvements.
Santa Claus drew thousands to the Green for a week long Christmas Village opening. A parade sleigh, two elves, and a police cruiser escort delighted families as 2,500 lollipops were handed out. More than 400 adults and 842 children visited the Santa trailer with hours from 2:19 to 4:30 and 7 to 8:30 daily, while Lions Club officials project strong attendance through Saturday.
Town Chairman Stuart M. Boyd says no members of the local Republican committee will attend the upcoming inauguration when Gen. Bisonshower takes the oath.
